Yale Center for Phage Biology and Therapy reports nebulized phage therapy in nine adults with cystic fibrosis (Nature Medicine)

Researchers at the Center for Phage Biology and Therapy at Yale report in Nature Medicine on nine adults with cystic fibrosis treated by nebulization with phages selected to kill infecting bacteria and also weaken the survivors, making them less virulent or less resistant to antibiotics. The study found improved lung function, reduced sputum P. aeruginosa and evidence that phage-resistant bacteria had reduced pathogenicity.
