Laurel Robbins awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship for PhD work on bacterial anti-phage immunity
Lake Forest College alumna Laurel Robbins (’23), a PhD candidate in biochemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder, received a 2025 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, securing funding for tuition, stipend and fees for the next three years. Her lab investigates the mechanisms of bacterial immune systems that defend against bacteriophages; understanding them has potential for improving the efficacy of phage therapy.
