Piotr Golec receives PLN 1.88 million OPUS 29 grant on lytic phage interactions with Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Dr Piotr Golec of the Department of Molecular Virology, Institute of Microbiology, Faculty of Biology UW has received PLN 1,881,850 from the National Science Centre (NCN) under its OPUS 29 call for a project on interactions between lytic phages and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, covering effects on pigment metabolism, virulence regulation and the formation of phage-resistant mutants. The team will also investigate how the phages themselves change during infection when bacteria try to defend against them.
