Self-funded PhD: molecular basis of suicidal phage resistance (RexAB abortive infection) — University of Leicester

Self-funded PhD project at the University of Leicester (Molecular and Cell Biology; Dr Abhinav Koyamangalath Vadakkepat and Dr M Clokie) to characterise the RexA/RexB abortive-infection system of E. coli by X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM, asking how RexA senses phage DNA–protein complexes and how RexB activation depolarises the cell, with the aim of designing robust phage therapy. Applications are accepted all year round; the project is open to self-funded students only.
