Christine Thompson

I am a PharmD student in the state of Ohio interested in becoming an infectious disease pharmacist/researcher. I am interested in discovering new anti-infective therapies for patients and am fascinated by ways to improve curing infectious diseases without depending solely on antibiotics. One of my interests includes phage therapy. I would love to assist in research in phage therapy towards ending the antimicrobial resistance crisis. I created a phage profile to show my interest in interning alongside a researcher throughout my PharmD career. My end goal is to find phage/antibiotic therapy combinations that can be used translationally in patients with multi-drug resistance infections, and discover new phage cocktails that can be used for people in third world countries who do not have access to antibiotics. I also plan to find ways to make phage cocktails effective in the administration of tablets, capsules, and other forms of drug formulations. Not many pharmacists are interested in phage therapy research, and I plan to be that change, and make a difference in the field of infectious diseases.
