Siân Owen is a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School working in the group of Michael Baym. Siân fell in love with phage during her PhD at the University of Liverpool, UK, where she predominantly studied the molecular biology of uncharacterised Salmonella prophages. In her postdoctoral research she retains an interest in temperate phages, and is broadly interested in all the subtle and unexpected ways that prophages can shape the lives of bacteria.
